February Awareness

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM), a time to shine a light on the realities of dating abuse among teens and promote healthy, respectful relationships. Approximately 1 in 3 U.S. teens experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from a dating partner, with nearly 1.5 million high school students experiencing physical abuse annually. Violence often begins between 6th and 12th grade, yet only 9% of teens seek help. It includes physical violence, digital stalking, and coercion.  Teen dating violence can include physical, emotional, verbal, and digital abuse, and it often begins subtly. TDVAM encourages young people, parents, educators, and communities to recognize warning signs, start important conversations, and empower teens to build relationships rooted in respect & safety.
